How to prepare for a healthy pregnancy

Pregnancy is the most pampered and blissful period of a woman's life. The bundle of joy you have  ever been wishing to hold in your palms, the tiny hands and legs to touch with, the sweet milky smell ... You just cann't wait anymore. The package comes with lots of problems along with with, I agree and that is why most couples today take too long to take the big decision. But had it been such a huge issue the population of our country would not have crossed 100 millions.  So you too can go for it. But to make this hopeful journey better and sweeter you can make some advanced planning for pregnancy.
Here is a handy list of tips which will help you to plan a healthy pregnancy.

  1. Preparation for pregnancy
Though a woman has to sail through lots of inconvenience in terms of hormonal imbalance, an array of skin problems, varicose  veins, night cramps, nausea during initial days, weighty issues during last semester, elder child(s) to deal etc the woman can deal with pregnancy quite smoothly and happily if the pregnancy is planned and she and her husband(partner) is well prepared for a pregnancy.

  2. A health check up: what should be included in a pre-pregnancy health check up

A health check up with make your health status updated. Blood test, thyroid level, diabetes, any family history of genetic disorders all should be discussed thoroughly. If you have any problem regarding your menstrual cycle that too should be discussed with your gynaec.

  3. Is your home ready for a newborn

You and your family is ready to welcome the addition to the family. But is your house ready for the newborn. If not, then try to find out a better environment for yourselves at least for the sake of the new one. The house should be airy and should have scope for sufficient amount of daylight which will be very essential for the newborn.

  4. How to make yourself physically ready for pregnancy

If you are not a regular exerciser, here is the time to start at least now. If you want to be a good mother you will have to sacrifice many nights after childbirth and you will face thousands of daily chores which you cannot imagine now. Definitely you will be needing a better health and more stamina. So try now onward.

  5. Give up drinking or smoking

If you drink or smoke than give up right now and wait for at least three months to conceive. The affect of alcohol and smoking remains in your blood for a long period and it will have harmful effect on the newborn.

  6. Prepare your husband

Start telling your husband about your thoughts. He may not like the idea initially, but you have to make it possible for him too! He may be quite reluctant to sacrifice his independent life but sooner is better in this case. Because both of you have to undergo lots of stress while rearing child(s) and this is best time for you.
  7. Determination
Determine yourself to lead a healthy pregnancy. You need to gain at least 10-12 kilos of weight more or less throughout pregnancy. But definitely not more than that. Too much weight means too difficulty to lose pregnancy weight. And you may never fit into your best clothes that suit you now.
Now perhaps you can decide to take your relationship to the next level viz., to become parents. Remember this news can be one of the best news for your parents and in-laws too.

  1. I developed hypothyroidism through the years without knowing I had it until I began to feel lethargic all the time. I had a 20 pound weight gain also. Since I began taking bovine thyroid , my energy level has rebounded to normal.
